Kinship Alliance Australia is a new national initiative with the aim of achieving recognition and support for kinship families with a particular focus on informal kinship care.
This initiative was established in 2023 through a partnership between Dr Meredith Kiraly and Mike Feszczak (CEO of Grandcarers SA), and is now a national network of kinship care advocacy groups and organisations working together to advocate on our carer’s behalf.
Kinship Alliance Australia is proud to announce that the formal launch of Kinship Alliance Australia and the South Australian Stakeholders Meeting will take place as follows:
- Times/Date : 2pm to 4:30pm, Monday 24 June 2024
- Location : Terrace 1, Stamford Plaza Hotel, 150 North Terrace, Adelaide
Attendees will hear from :
- Ms Kate Bundle – former CEO of Grandparents Raising Grandchildren New Zealand, and the driving force for the introduction of NZ’s Unsupported Child Benefit payment
- Dr Meredith Kiraly – an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne and an acknowledged expert on the challenges faced by Informal Kinship Carers
- Ms Jo Sadler – CEO of Wanslea in WA, who administer that state’s annual Grandparent Carer allowance
- Mr Alan Hofman – President of Grandcarers WA – on the impact of the annual WA payment on informal grandparent carers
- Mike Feszczak– on the South Australian perspective, and Emcee of the event.
